Toyota Corolla KE70 1980 DX Estate.
Not many of these old school estates around !!! The story goes, owned by 1 owner from new 1980 till 2006 Mr Leonard H Wood....he has now passed away aged 85 (RIP), it was bought by a middle aged man Paul R Lucas whose Grandfather used to go playing Golf with Mr Wood in his car.... Mr Lucas wanted to re-live his Grandfathers time.... The car was then parked up since October 31st 2007. I was contacted by Mr Wood and he came across the website and realised I had a soft spot for old KE70's and was originally going to scrap the car but he sold it to me.....
UPDATE ! 29January2009, took it in for an MOT after being off the road for a while. Looking underneath & it was very solid. Needed rear end of sills welding and a spot underneath. Front passenger side brake caliper needed sorting and that was it.... Now the car is fully MOT'd (30Jan09) & Taxed. The has only done approx 2000 miles since 2006... And now it has 68k on clock... Go on 4K engine !!!
01FEB09 KE70 Back home today, took it for a lengthy drive to open her up a bit as she hasn't seen a long drive in a while. Car fully MOT'd & Taxed... Drives fine.... Shes back in the garage tucked away till I can get hold of a tailgate and get the restoration started.... Looking forward...
APR09 Now gone into body shop for strip down & re-spray, managed to locate a tailgate & lower panel under windscreen from an old KE70 I had.
14MAY09 Update..... Respray completed !!!
Update 20May09 Updated fotos, needs rear bumper putting back on as awaiting new brackets...
The car is now owned by a friend of mine who took the project on.
